BAW Precision Engineering Ltd, formed 28 years ago, employs
50 people, with a turnover close to £3m per year. BAW has invested
heavily in machinery - the most recent being a Mori Seiki 4 axis CNC
Lathe
- one of only two in the UK. Investment in the workforce is a top
priority. BAW was the first Precision Engineering Company to achieve
the Investors in People Standard in West Wales and training
has
played a part in BAWs success with several employees going through
to the finals in EMTA sponsored competitions. The investment programme
is central to the growth of BAW. A complete manufacturing
capability is housed under one roof. Agie spark and wire eroders,
CNC mills and lathes coupled with a large cylindrical and surface
capability ensure that customers requirements are translated
into the finished
article. Full time inspection with 3-axis measurement, surface finish
and add hardness testing are all on site.
With 3 design engineers in house, BAW has evolved from jig and fixture
manufactures to designers of complete assembly lines from Toyota brakes
to battery manufacturing equipment for F16 fighter planes. The special
purpose machines are in Shanghai, Kansas and Malaysia, also snack
food technology has their tooling from Swansea to Egypt.
