Travel to Swansea Bay is easy on the M4 and onward dual carriageway systems. With the opening of the Second Severn Crossing, traffic for South Wales follows the revised route of the M4 across the new bridge.

Rail

Swansea Bay is on the national Rail network and is served by a number of national and regional services. There is an hourly service to and from London-Paddington and regular services to the Midlands and the North.

 

Coach

There is a regular coach link from Swansea to Cardiff and London and also to Heathrow and Gatwick Airports operated through First Cymru and National Express.

 

Sea
Swansea provides important maritime links to the Atlantic Ocean, Northern Europe and Ireland. Operated by Associated British Ports, Swansea Dock is a major port with container facilities, catering for vessels of up to 30,000 tonnes. Swansea Docks process the third highest tonnage of cargo in South Wales and, on average, four million tonnes of cargo pass through the docks each year. The docks can handle roll-on roll-off cargoes, container, bulk and project cargoes. The roll-on, roll-off terminal is used by the Swansea Cork Ferries, which operate regular crossings to the Irish Republic. There is also nearby access to a deep-water terminal and private wharfage services.

 

Air

Swansea Airport has recently undergone change in ownership putting Swansea firmly back on the flight path of smaller operators, with plans to introduce scheduled services for up to 100 passengers to various European destinations.
